For families with several people suffering from liver cancer at the same time or successively, it may be caused by common living conditions, such as common exposure to certain carcinogens than genetic factors. In other words, this cannot be called heredity, it can only be regarded as a tendency of family gathering. A member of a family of a patient who has had liver cancer should probably be wary of this disease.

Liver cancer is not inherited, but why do many people in a family often suffer from liver cancer?

The medical community put forward a "two-strike theory" for this. The basic idea is that any cancer is the result of two mutations in a cell's genes. For sporadic non-familial cancer patients, these two changes occurred after birth. Cancer patients with family tendencies have been attacked by carcinogenic factors before their mothers became pregnant. The cells in their bodies at birth already have a change that is prone to cancer. As long as they are hit by a carcinogenic factor once after birth, they may develop cancer. Therefore, the chance of cancer is higher than that of ordinary people. This is the well-known "two hit theory".

In families with liver cancer patients, other members do not need to think too much about the heredity of liver cancer, let alone affect the marriage of their children. However, pay attention to the reasons for life related to the onset of liver cancer:

1. Drinking water: The incidence of liver cancer in people who drink polluted pond water, house ditch water, and irrigation area water is much higher than those who drink well or reservoir water. The better the water quality, the lower the incidence of liver cancer.

2. Liver cirrhosis after hepatitis: the higher the prevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen positive in the population, the higher the incidence of liver cancer. Regarding the relationship between liver cancer and liver cirrhosis, there are research reports: 70% to 100% of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma have cirrhosis.

3. Physical or chemical factors: There are relatively many reports of chemical factors causing liver cancer. Aflatoxin is an important factor in inducing liver cancer. Food is mildewed and aflatoxin is seriously polluted.

4. Drinking: Long-term heavy drinking can cause liver nutritional disorders and cause liver cirrhosis.

To challenge liver cancer, in addition to medical efforts, people's correct concept of prevention and treatment is also very important. The improved survival rate of liver cancer treatment is largely due to early diagnosis.
